SONGS FOR JANEY (2019)
SONGS FOR JANEY
Released in 2019, Songs for Janey includes ten original songs that span a number of genres including folk, rock, country, and blues. Recorded roughly over a period of five years, the songs were written from the heart. Songs for Janey was recorded at home in Pennsylvania and Maryland and mastered in the UK by Doctor Mix. On the CD, I play six and twelve string acoustic and electric guitars, dobro, pedal steel, banjo, bass, keyboards and percussion.
About the tracks on Songs for Janey:
New Place Now, reminiscent of Pure Prairie League’s Aimie, speaks from the perspective of a dog about starting life over and moving to a new town.
Marjorie Jane is a sweet acoustic folk song about biking, love, life and of course, Marjorie Jane.
Wedding Song was written just a few weeks in advance of getting married, recorded as an upbeat rocker, and performed live for the first time at the wedding.
Ride with Me. Sorry, but this CD needed more than just one song about biking, love and life.
Hate to Leave You will make you think you’re heading down the highway behind the wheel of a big rig and listening to Hank Williams long to be back home with his sweetheart.
You Can’t Cry Forever, a mellow pedal steel-infused alt country composition, reflects on the past and contemplates the future.
Did You Know tells the fictional tale of a broken-hearted guy who leaves town after seeing his girl out on the town with another man. Dark and a tad eerie and backed with a horn section, the song features some way cool guitar solos that might make you think you’re listening to Mark Knopfler.
Here We Go Again is a beautiful acoustic ballad about the wonders of finding love when you’re not looking.
Little Diddie is an acoustic guitar picker’s delight that is sure to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
Oh Lord was inspired by Nick Davies’ 1991 book, White Lies: Rape, Murder, and Justice Texas Style. The song is about a fictional death row inmate nearing his execution. It’s a blues rocker that features Dale’s acoustic and electric bottleneck blues guitar playing.
